Meet

Leslie Reingold

It is my honor to introduce myself as an instructor, teaching-consultant, writer, and leader in the field of Holocaust education.

Though I grew up on Miami Beach, I began my esteemed career in Gray, Georgia (where none of my students or their parents had ever met a Jewish person) and continue to practice the art of academic pedagogy to this day in South Florida. I am a proud recipient of various awards earned during my tenure, which include the Gutterman Family Foundation Holocaust Educator of the Year Award through FAU and the Broward County Holocaust Educator of the Year Award through the Central Agency for Jewish Education.

As a teacher for the Broward County school system, I created a Holocaust studies curriculum that has been shared with teachers throughout the county and offered the first all year Holocaust Studies course in Broward County schools. I have been a guest lecturer for Holocaust programs sponsored by Broward County schools and Florida Atlantic University.

Along with my dual certification in language ats and social studies, I received a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and National Board certification in Language Arts. I take much pleasure in creating challenging Holocaust curriculum and sharing ideas that will evolve into a deeper understanding of the Holocaust and the lessons from it that we must pass on

I am a wife, a mother of two daughters and two stepdaughters, and a grandmother of four. Though I have retired from the Broward County School system, I continue to teach about the dangers of hate and intolerance in the Holocaust Museum of South Florida on the campus of NSU twice a week to students from across the tri-county area. I also write curriculum for a private company under contract with the Florida Department of Education tasked with teaching students about the lessons of the Holocaust in all counties across the state of Florida.
